What is heras fence hire?
“Heras” is the common trade term for temporary anti-climb mesh fencing — the 2m × 3.5m galvanised steel panels you see around every construction site, demolition job, festival, public event, and short-term security perimeter in the UK. The name comes from Heras Mobile Fencing, the brand that dominated the market for decades; today the same style of panel is made by multiple manufacturers, but “heras fence” sticks as the generic term.

All panels are inspected before they leave the yard. Bent uprights, damaged mesh, or compromised feet are pulled and repaired or replaced. You’re not getting the rubbish that was rejected on the last job.
Hire terms
- Minimum hire: 1 week
- Standard hire periods: 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, ongoing monthly
- Daily rate available after the first week (pro-rated)
- Long-term rates (4+ weeks) — materially better weekly rate; ask for a flat monthly figure
- Extension: call us, we’ll bill the extra days at the same rate. No punitive overrun fees.
- Early collection: no problem, no early-termination fee
- Damage deposit: £5/panel — the same as a month’s hire — refunded within 48 hours of collection (subject to serviceable return)

Last minute or emergency heras panel hire — same-day available
Most orders are delivered next day — call before midday and we’ll do everything we can to get panels to you the same day. Last-minute bookings are fine: if you’ve left it late, you’re not the first. Common reasons customers call urgently:
- Fence knocked down overnight — vandalism, storm, vehicle impact. We can have replacements on site within hours.
- HSE or planning enforcement visit expected — got a notice or inspector coming? Call us, we’ll prioritise.
- Unexpected scope increase — contractor turns up and realises the job’s bigger than planned. One call.
- Panels stolen — it happens. We’ll replace them fast and keep your site secure.

Heras panels for self-builders and homeowners
You don’t need to be a contractor to hire from us. We work with plenty of private customers doing:
- House extensions and loft conversions — securing the excavation or the build zone from the rest of the garden / road
- Driveway replacement — short-run of 4–6 panels to close off a driveway during concrete pours

Common questions
Are these the same as “Heras” branded panels?
“Heras” is a brand name now used generically for this style of fencing. Our panels meet the same anti-climb mesh specification as Heras-branded panels and are fit for the same applications (construction, events, temporary security). Functionally identical for the customer.
Can I collect from your yard instead of paying for delivery?
We’re a delivery-and-collection business — we don’t do customer collection. The economics only work because we control the logistics. Delivery rates are flat and competitive.
Do you do install or is it self-install?
Standard install is included for orders of 20+ panels within Glasgow. For smaller orders or sites outside Glasgow city, we charge a flat install fee — quoted on the call. Most experienced site teams self-install in 5-10 minutes per 10 panels.
What if a panel goes missing on site?
Replacement cost charged on collection, held against the damage deposit. Recurring theft on the same site = security review for the remaining hire period.
Can I extend a hire mid-job?
Yes — just call. We bill the extra time at the same per-week rate. No paperwork, no contract amendments.
