Delivery timings
- Standard delivery: next day on most weekday orders. Most sites are fenced within 24 hours of the call.
- Same-day delivery: often possible if you call before midday on a weekday — depends on existing schedule and stock.
- Weekend delivery: Saturday delivery available; book by Wednesday-Thursday for guaranteed slot. Sunday by arrangement.
- Emergency / out-of-hours: call us — call-out rate (£85) + standard delivery. We’ll do what’s possible.
Collection timings
- Standard collection: booked within 48 hours of your call. Same-day collection sometimes possible.
- Phased collection: for staged sites, we can collect in batches as different areas come off-hire.
- Long-term contracts: collection booked when you call. No advance notice required beyond the day-or-two needed to slot it in.
What’s included in the delivery fee
- Delivery to site postcode — van + driver, panels offloaded at agreed access point
- Standard install — for orders of 20+ panels within Glasgow, install is included
- Delivery note — signed on arrival, recording exact panel count delivered
- 30-minute heads-up text before arrival, so you can have someone on site to receive
- Collection at end of hire — included in the flat regional rate, no additional collection fee
- Photo evidence of delivery — sent to your WhatsApp/email if you want it for project records
What’s extra (when applicable)
- Install for smaller orders or sites outside Glasgow — flat install fee quoted on the call
- Out-of-hours delivery / collection — £85 call-out rate
- Site relocation mid-hire — flat relocation fee covers van + crew time
- Specialist access (cranes, restricted-height vans, narrow lanes) — discussed on the call
Site access — what we need from you
To make delivery smooth and avoid awkward conversations on arrival:
- Clear access for a Luton-style van or flatbed — most sites are fine; we’ll ask if there are restrictions
- Someone on site to take delivery — to receive panels, sign the delivery note, indicate where they’re going. If no one’s available, panels can be left at an agreed location with photo evidence and a follow-up call.
- Reasonable offload area — hard standing where possible, but compacted ground is fine
- Site postcode and what3words location if site access is unclear
If access is awkward (very narrow lanes, restricted height, on-foot delivery into a courtyard, etc.), tell us when you book. We’d rather know in advance than turn up with the wrong van.
What our van looks like
White van or flatbed, marked with Glasgow Fence Hire signage and our phone number. Driver has ID, PPE for site walks, and the delivery note ready to sign.
Common delivery questions
How quickly can you get to my postcode? Most postcodes within the central belt are next-day or sooner. Same-day is often possible if you call before midday on a weekday. Call us with the postcode and we’ll tell you the realistic earliest slot.
Do you charge per mile or a flat rate? Flat regional rates. No per-mile fuel surcharges. The fee you see is the fee you pay.
Can I split delivery across two days? Yes — for larger jobs we often stagger delivery across two consecutive days. Same delivery fee covers both legs.
Do you deliver outside business hours? Standard hours are Mon–Sat 7am–6pm. Out-of-hours delivery available on the £85 call-out rate (evenings, Sunday, bank holidays). For genuine emergencies we’ll do whatever’s possible.
What if I need to change the delivery date? Call us — we re-slot. No admin fee for first reschedule per booking. Very last-minute changes (within a few hours of booked delivery) may incur a small re-route fee.
Can you deliver to a site without someone there? Yes, if the access is clear and the agreed dropping point is unambiguous. We’ll photograph the panels in position and call you to confirm.
What if the site postcode is hard to find? Send us a what3words location, OS grid reference, or what’s-marked-on-Google-Maps pin. We’ve delivered to building sites that don’t even have a postcode yet.
Do you charge for collection separately from delivery? No — the flat regional rate covers both. Collection is included.
What happens to the panels between hire periods? Returned to our Glasgow yard, inspected, repaired if needed, ready to go out again.
